Saved by Grace through Faith and not by works

Ephesians 2:8 For it’s by grace you have been saved, through faith and it is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God-not by works so that no one can boast.

I have always been taught by my primary school teacher not to accept anything for free especially from men as a lady. So, I grew up knowing that to earn something, you have to do something in exchange for the reward. We know of statements like “no pain no gain”, and even ''pay first before you eat".

So that was my mindset, I knew I had to be a good girl to be accepted by God, I had to avoid doing a lot of things so that I earn His salvation. However, I was unable to keep up with the rules, most of the time I found myself not feeling like doing the right thing and I did the wrong because it wasn't interesting. This continued for a long time and I was tired of sin, of repenting daily, of always looking down on myself and thinking I wasn't good enough.

One day I heard the gospel and I was completely shocked that it wasn't whatever I was doing or did that could earn my salvation but it was a gift from God. I also learnt that when I am born again I received the Holy Spirit who helped me to walk right living according to God's principles which I had a struggle with when I hadn't accepted Christ. So, my friend do you believe you are born again or you're still in doubt?

Believing in Jesus Christ is an advantage to those who believe, it’s the love of God that draws us to Him after we realize that we can't do it alone, and He says while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. We can’t come to Him the way we want, you can be tired of sin as I was and as He welcomed me with open arms He is will willing to welcome you too. You will enjoy untold peace in storms and you'll not remain the same, as you continue to fellowship with God, the yolk of sin and slavery will be broken. You can come as you are but you will never remain the same way. God is interested in your tomorrow, He wants you to become a better person than you were before sin. Everything God made was good, you and I were very good people before the fall. Let that sin not define you, you are more than what you see, you have a purpose and a destiny to fulfill but it will be so only as you are in Christ. When you surrender to Him your life will be new and you shall never remain the same.

I am a witness, you can be the witness tomorrow of how He changed your life. Always know salvation is a gift and a precious one which was purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ, value it and cherish it, it’s worth everything.
